After posting a short while ago about being sent a stick for product testing, a few of you asked that I post my review to the sub in addition to the review posted on HockeyMonkey as part of the product testing agreement.

Let me know if you guys have any additional questions; I'd be happy to answer them to the best of my ability.

Estadd fixed effects

First Impressions: Very light stick, not technically the lightest you can buy, but feels like it. I own a few Sherwood EK15's the lightest stick on the market by weight and the difference is indiscernible.

It's better balanced than the EK15, better balanced than any stick of comparable weight that I've used. The weight feels even throughout, not heavy at the blade, not heavy at the butt. The shape of the underside of the shaft is obviously different, but feels natural in the hands. If you compare the shape made when you curl your fingers as if they're holding an imaginary hockey stick with the shape of the STX shaft I'd say they nailed it. Shooting: I think if your strength is your snap shot, this is an excellent stick for you.

Personally, the snap shot isn't my best shot, but I found that the stick I used a 75 flex, for what it's worth loads nicely against the ice and when you hit the puck with that deep part of the curve I used the X Anyone who played baseball understands the concept of the "sweet spot" and this blade really felt like it had a sweet spot.

As for wrist shots, I got more out of a slightly bigger shooting motion, which was a small adjustment from using mostly low kick-point sticks previously. I was very happy with the slap shots I took with it, especially one-timing pucks.

Backhand shots also good, energy transferred well even to the toe of the blade. The stick never felt "whippy" when I didn't want it to be. What I didn't expect was for the shaft shape to make a difference in my shot. It felt to me as though, while taking a wrist shot, the increased contact with my hand and the shaft provided better feedback through the shooting motion, increasing accuracy.

I tested this again and again, going back and forth between the STX and Sherwood, and found my accuracy consistently better with the STX. I could literally feel myself being able to just finely tune that release better.

Age verification. But are these design elements enough to make this stick worthy of your money? Perhaps the most unique feature of the stick is the PureGrip shaft design which features an ergonomic U-shaped design on the underside of the shaft which helps to fill the void in your hand that can be found with more traditional shaft designs.

Meanwhile, the upper portion maximizes load for more powerful and hard shots. A proprietary resin called Silver Streak has also been injected along the base of the blade to help increase durability. Finally, STX applied their Sand Grit texture to the blade to increase friction and help maximize puck responsiveness. Do the innovative and fresh technologies translate into a great elite level stick? We were fortunate enough to receive a demo RX3 stick from STX to put through the paces and came away pleased, but not blown away, with what it had to offer.

After several years of weight not being on the forefront of players minds, mostly because all sticks were in the gram range, it has become a hot topic once again. Companies like Bauer and now Warrior are unveiling new sticks weighing less than grams, and setting that as the new standard. STX has met the standard at grams, but additional weight reduction would help take this stick to the next level.

The shaft design of the RX3 is obviously a big deal on paper, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Filling that negative space in your hands is more of a comfort thing than anything else, at least to me. For me, it was neither a great feature nor a drawback. It felt fine in my hands, but more unnoticable than game changing and not something I can say that is a must have on a stick. Wristers were clean and quick, with some decent zip on them, while slapshots felt hard with a strong release.

I had a bit of trouble with accuracy using the RX3, but I attribute that more to the curve I was using rather than the stick itself. Speaking of curves, there are only three blade patterns to choose from with the RX3.

Two of them are mid-toe curves, and the other is a mid.

Ned stark vs arthur dayne

I chose the X28 which is a mid-toe curve with advanced open face. Despite it being highlighted for extreme preciison and accuracy on the site, I did not find it work well in that regard. In hindsight, choosing one of the other blades would have performed a bit better for my game.

The big question at the end of all this is should I buy this stick? Perhaps the easiest way to answer that question is by looking at the price tag. STX made a dramatic shift in their gear offerings with this release, making products available on their own website rather than through a collection of dealers. Not only does this give you a great stick at an awesome price, but you also receive a 14 day risk free trial, money back guarantee, and free shpping on your purchase. Save my name, email, and website in this browser for the next time I comment.STX has been around for a long time and they are a major player in the Lacrosse market. I used to see their sticks frequently at the local pro shop, unfortunately, usually on the clearance rack. It has a normal concave top with a rounded and extended bottom. I wonder if it has any effect on the kick point and durability.

It has plenty of decent flex to it, similar to any other stick. The first thing I noticed when I received it is how light and well built stick is.

It feels solid in your hands and very well balanced. Their PureGrip, or ergonomic shaft, takes all of 5 seconds to get used to.

It fits perfectly in your hands, in-line with your fingers. The RX3 has a really nice graphic to it; just the right amount of flash.

There is also about 10 inches of texture on the top of the shaft, right in the middle of the stick. They also added my favorite feature in their Silver Streak or sand paper texture on the blade. STX says its for durability and to reduce wear, which it most definitely does.

It also helps your tape stick to the blade and it just feels cool to touch it. Taping the knob with the PureGrip was not as weird as I expected it to be. It went on like any other stick. The blade however let me down. I tape heel to toe and I had a bit of trouble towards the heel. Once you start taping it sticks a little better. You just have to be careful with the first few wraps. I re-tape my blade every time I use a stick so it wont bother me too much if the tape falls off after the first use.Forgot your password?

Wow, these are some of the best looking gear I've laid my eyes on. STX is really on point with their design. Good thing they moved to a black base material - white gear stains so quickly and feels dirtier. In addition, does their online store have a massive error right now? Everything looks incredibly underpriced.

stx surgeon rx2 hockey stick review

These are enormous price decreases from their previous top-of-the-line items. I thought the whole point of them going to direct sales was to have way lower prices for consumers at "no cost" to themselves If it stays that way, it may put a hurting on the no name undercutting stick companies that sell direct to consumer.

Same price, with a big name behind one; i know who I'd pick. I don't break sticks, so warranties mean very little, but the warranty policy from the no names is also pretty terrible from what i read.

Yeah there's no way anyone should really pick No Name at this point. STX bringing all of their research and technology for this price point is a way better value. Plus, free shipping and no risk 14 day trial. I'm most excited about the new Surgeon protectives though. Can't wait for reviews.

I scooped five RX2's when they went on sale earlier in the summer.

Ac 2 glyphs

With this new direct to consumer pricing I cannot imagine using another stick. At that price it is simply too good to pass up. Granted, I picked both up cheap when they went on clearance, but that doesn't diminish the fact they are both a quality product meaning, I'm not letting the great deal on each factor into the bottom line that they are great sticks regardless.

I was unaware this was their new business direction. I will certainly support them if the quality of the product remains the same. Those are some fantastic price points. It appears they only ship to the US as well. Not that I need to order right now, but eventually I'll probably want some new STX Surgeon gloves since the Surgeon s are currently my favourite gloves. I signed up for the site and tried to add a Canadian billing address, but there's only US as a country option.

So that means I can't even order with my Canadian credit card and have it shipped to the US like a hotel at a Modsquad event or a US based member. One can hope anyway. Unfortunately, we are only able to ship to the continental United States, Hawaii, and Alaska. For our fans in Canada and other parts of the world, we're working on bringing STX hockey equipment to you through www. So there's a glimmer of hope for those of us who don't live in the US. Even their low end stuff if pretty good. I use my RX2.

If the cheaper 3. I dont know how anyone can argue with prices like these!? I signed up but never got that code. I agree though, these prices are nuts. I wish I needed gear just to support them because I would love for this to be the future of hockey. The patent pending and game changing technology is called PureGrip, and it is essentially giving the bottom of the shaft more of a U shape rather than a traditional rectangular shape. Puregrip TM Technology gives you an entirely new way to take control of the game.

Its innovative, ergonomic design on the underside of the shaft fills the void in your hand left by a traditional shaped hockey stick.

The angular shape on the bottom of the stick maximizes hand contact points for advanced stick control and quick, responsive play. This was done by combining 18k and 3k carbon fiber weaves in order to get the best out of both worlds, performance and feel.

This additional feature will help to improve durability. Your email address will not be published. Save my name, email, and website in this browser for the next time I comment. We are very happy with the service Nordic Visitor (and Hanna specifically) provided. We would never have had the time to plan everything so well in advance, and it made the trip very easy and enjoyable. Sindre is great to work with. We had done some research and were having a bit to trouble understanding fully how to go about booking a brewery tour or what flexibility we might have. He helped us navigate through to booking this.

To be completely honest that tour was why we chose Svalbard so helping to confirm that made our trip a huge success. That little bit of extra service is hugely appreciated and does not go unnoticed. The overall trip was very enjoyable. Everything exceeded our expectations Keep up the good work. Probably the best vacation we have had and we have traveled to many countries.

The extensive information you have on your website was very helpful in deciding how we wanted to approach our vacation and which tour to select.
